MIX is a frequent advisor to and participant in industry best practices and standard setting working groups and is actively helping to define financial and social performance reporting standards. In this respect MIX works closely with the Small Enterprise Education and Promotion (SEEP) Network and the Consultative Group to Assist the Poor (CGAP) as well as a number of other institutions.

Core competencies of MIX's role in best practices and industry standardization efforts lie in accounting, financial analysis, and benchmarking process. MIX is currently an official member of the following industry working groups:

• SEEP Financial Services Working Group
• SEEP Social Performance Working Group
• SEEP Social Performance Task Force

Over the years, MIX has proven to be a key contributor to the development of a number of financial performance standards, endorsed by a wide range of microfinance stakeholders. They include:
